THE ROLE
Data Center Technician is responsible for advanced hardware diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, deployment, and operational support within enterprise and high-performance computing (HPC) data center environments. This role serves as a technical escalation point for complex incidents, ensuring system availability, service quality, and adherence to operational standards. THE PERSON:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Operations Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and decommissioning of servers, storage systems, networking equipment, GPU platforms, and supporting infrastructure. Execute hardware diagnostics and root cause analysis for server, network, storage, and accelerator-related issues. Troubleshoot complex hardware and firmware failures requiring advanced technical investigation. Perform component replacement and system validation activities while following approved procedures. Incident and Escalation Management Serve as a Level 2 escalation resource for unresolved technical incidents. Analyze logs, alerts, and monitoring tools to identify root causes and corrective actions. Coordinate with engineering, vendors, and cross-functional teams to resolve high-impact issues. Ensure all incidents, repairs, and actions are accurately documented within ticketing systems. Data Center Operations Support rack integration, cabling, power validation, inventory management, and equipment audits. Ensure compliance with data center standards, safety requirements, and change management processes. Monitor environmental conditions and infrastructure health. Participate in on-call support and operational response activities as required. Process Improvement and Documentation Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and troubleshooting guides. Identify recurring issues and recommend preventive or corrective actions. Support technician training and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Participate in continuous improvement programs focused on operational efficiency and service quality.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise data center environments. Strong understanding of server hardware, storage systems, networking technologies, and operating systems. Experience troubleshooting hardware failures and performing component-level repairs. Familiarity with ticketing systems, asset management, and change control processes. Ability to read technical documentation and follow detailed procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience supporting GPU-accelerated computing environments and AI/HPC infrastructure. Knowledge of Linux and Windows server administration. Familiarity with firmware management and hardware validation processes. Previous experience supporting large-scale cloud or enterprise data centers. Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, Dell, Cisco, HPE, Lenovo, or equivalent.
