The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in PLCs, instrumentation, electrical controls, and industrial automation systems while working closely with operations and maintenance teams to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and optimize industrial control systems, instrumentation, and automation equipment throughout the facility. Perform diagnostics and repairs on PLCs, HMI systems, industrial networks, control panels, and associated automation systems. Install, configure, test, and commission instrumentation devices including pressure, temperature, flow, level, proximity, and analytical instruments. Calibrate and verify field instrumentation in accordance with manufacturer specifications and site requirements. Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic control systems supporting manufacturing and facility operations. Maintain and support Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), soft starters, motor control systems, and process control equipment. Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, control narratives, and technical documentation. Support modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects related to controls and automation systems. Assist with commissioning, startup, and validation of new equipment and control systems. Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and process performance. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on controls and instrumentation assets. Troubleshoot communication networks including Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Modbus, Profibus, and other industrial protocols as applicable. Utilize testing and diagnostic equipment including multimeters, process calibrators, signal generators, and network diagnostic tools. Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration documentation, and work order completion within the CMMS system. Ensure compliance with all site safety requirements, electrical safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Arc Flash procedures. Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance personnel to resolve equipment issues and improve system reliability. Participate in emergency response, troubleshooting activities, and scheduled maintenance outages as required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications Associate degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electrical Technology, Automation Technology, Electronics, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting industrial controls, instrumentation, automation, or process control systems in a manufacturing, process, distribution, utility, or industrial environment. Strong knowledge of: PLC hardware and troubleshooting Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) Process instrumentation and calibration Industrial automation systems Motor controls and VFDs Industrial networking and communication protocols Electrical control circuits and low-voltage control systems Experience reading and interpreting: Electrical schematics Wiring diagrams P&IDs Instrument loop drawings Technical manuals and specifications Proficiency using calibration equipment, process simulators, multimeters, loop calibrators, and other diagnostic tools.
