Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer

The Identity Kubernetes Platform team builds the software systems, automation services, and platform capabilities that enable Microsoft Identity services to operate securely and reliably on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Our engineers develop fleet management solutions, buildout and recovery orchestration systems, and platform automation that help service teams safely manage infrastructure changes across a rapidly growing global platform. Today, the platform spans dozens of Kubernetes clusters supporting critical Identity workloads, with a long-term vision to scale to hundreds of clusters and millions of compute cores. We partner closely with Azure, Microsoft Defender, and Identity engineering teams to solve complex distributed systems challenges, improve platform security and reliability, and create software that enables large-scale service evolution with little to no customer impact. We are looking for passionate engineers who enjoy solving large-scale distributed systems challenges and building the platforms that power Microsoft Identity. The Identity Kubernetes Platform team is driving the transformation of Identity services onto a modern Kubernetes-based platform, enabling secure, reliable, and efficient hosting for critical authentication and access management services used by billions of customers worldwide. You will have the opportunity to influence platform architecture, automation, reliability, and service modernization efforts while working closely with engineering teams across Identity, Azure, and Microsoft Security. Responsibilities: - Build and operate core platform capabilities that power large-scale, mission-critical identity and security services across Microsoft's cloud environments. - Develop automation and fleet management solutions that improve platform resilience, accelerate safe rollouts, and simplify recovery from complex production incidents. - Partner with engineering teams across Azure, Microsoft Defender, and Identity to deliver secure, reliable, and highly available platform services. - Improve platform reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence through engineering-driven solutions and continuous service improvement. - Design and build cloud-native systems using Kubernetes, containers, distributed systems, and infrastructure automation technologies. - Use production insights and customer feedback to drive platform investments that improve scalability, performance, and developer productivity.

Qualifications - Required:  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND proven software engineering experience, or equivalent experience.  Experience designing, developing, and maintaining production software using C#, .NET, or similar object-oriented programming languages.  Experience building cloud-native or distributed systems, with an understanding of reliability, security, scalability, and service operations. - Experience working with cloud platforms, infrastructure technologies, or platform engineering concepts, including Kubernetes, containers, networking, or infrastructure automation.
