About this role
The Buyer position is a highly visible position with primary responsibility to support daily production requirements across multiple manufacturing locations. This position partners with Operation’s Planning community to successfully execute the business plan to provide world class customer service. The scope of this role will increase as business priorities emerge and grow with OPW CES. What You’ll Do
Proficiency in various aspects of the sourcing process required. Assist the Sr. Buyer/Planner to implement and execute sourcing projects/strategies and cost reduction initiatives. Assists, implements, and tracks cost reduction initiatives to improve company performance and profitability. Tracks key cost factors with suppliers to mitigate risk. Follow corporate objectives and change initiatives ensuring that the sourcing team is supporting overall company’s direction and growth. Responsible for executing sourcing/procurement strategies and creating and reconciling purchase orders for inventory and non-inventory items. Responsible for requesting and coordinating quotes for the Sr Buyer Planner. Responsible for expediting materials from vendors as needed. Assist in building and maintaining supplier relationships with emphasis on cost reduction and elimination of inefficiencies throughout the procurement process and develop alternative sourcing options and recommendations. Assist the Sr. Buyer Planner implementing material changes generated by ECN’s and the sourcing and production ramp up of new product introductions with Engineering. Assists in the day-to-day execution of tactical procurement as needed. Coordinate deliveries and shipments for open POs. Determine order quantities based upon demand (MRP) and inventory reorder reporting. Internal communication of product delivery with various stakeholders as needed. Coordinate import shipments from overseas resources. Reconcile vendor quality and/or shipping discrepancies. Assist in executing special assignments and projects as they are developed throughout the execution of special projects. Administer drop shipment consolidation from vendors to freight forwarders. Coordinate efforts with applicable shareholders. Complete all receivers for accounting/purchasing department. Schedule and coordinate with 3rd party contractors to schedule vendors for service and other maintenance issues as needed. Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
Minimum of 2 - 4 years’ procurement experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Associate degree in business or supply chain preferred but not required. Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain preferred, equivalent experience may be considered. Experience in project management, sourcing, supplier relationship, and vendor communication. Strong attention to detail is required. Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills. Hands on work ethic with results focus is required. Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP; Infor XA a plus. Ability to effectively communicate within difficult environments. Must be punctual and reliable. Able to prioritize and multi-task effectively. Strong organizational skills. Must be a team player and work well within a group setting. Comfortable with verbal communication when written communication is not available and/or effective. Possess a willingness to learn new skills.
