About this role
We are seeking a seasoned, highly experienced, and motivated Senior Architectural and Engineering Lead to drive the vision, design, and execution of our regulatory big data and core application frameworks. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead architectural and engineering initiatives, leading a high-performing core technology team focused on building and maintaining scalable, enterprise-grade core frameworks that support a comprehensive suite of regulatory reporting applications. A key focus of this role is driving innovation through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to streamline and enhance the onboarding of new and evolving regulations. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the Java platform and big data technologies, combined with a strong background in the financial services domain. This enables them to understand complex, multi-dimensional business challenges and formulate sustainable, future-ready solutions. A strong commitment to architectural simplification, high performance, and operational excellence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Core Framework Ownership: Lead and guide a core technology team responsible for developing, scaling, and maintaining foundational core frameworks (primarily Java-based) that serve as the backbone for a suite of critical regulatory reporting applications. Big Data Pipelines: Build, optimize, and maintain robust big data pipelines using technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Databricks, and cloud-based big data suites. Java Platform Excellence: Establish and enforce best practices for Java-based development, ensuring high-throughput, low-latency, and thread-safe execution within distributed environments. Architectural Governance: Lead the architecture governance process, including participating in Architecture Review Boards (ARBs), conducting technology assessments, and ensuring strict conformance to key design principles, security standards, and metadata requirements. Future-Ready Solutions: Evaluate and test potential architecture designs to ensure they meet both functional and non-functional requirements (performance, security, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency). Strategic Advisory: Evaluate complex technical options, conduct rigorous comparative analyses, and present clear, well-reasoned recommendations to senior stakeholders. Global Engagement: Collaborate with high-performing teams across business, technical, and data architecture domains. Engage globally with operations, product, and application development teams across different Lines of Business (LoBs) to ensure alignment. Mentorship & Culture: Provide strong technical leadership, mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, and fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and engineering excellence.
Qualifications
Experience & Domain Expertise 10+ years of proven experience in a senior-level architectural and engineering role. 5+ years of experience leading large-scale enterprise architecture initiatives within the banking or financial services industry. In-depth domain knowledge of financial services, with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, reporting standards, and complex financial data structures. Technical Skills Java Platform Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience with the Java platform (including Core Java, Spring/Spring Boot, concurrency, JVM tuning, and enterprise integration patterns) for building high-performance, multi-tenant frameworks. Big Data & Cloud: Proven experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) in combination with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka, and Databricks. AI/ML Integration: Practical knowledge of integrating machine learning, advanced analytics, or AI models within big data and enterprise application environments. Design & Metrics: Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities, and related
