Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and deploy Appian-based business process management (BPM) applications, including process models, records, reports, sites, and interfaces (SAIL). Translate business requirements into technical designs, conceptual application architecture, and detailed process/data models. Build and maintain integrations between Appian and external systems, APIs, databases, and third-party platforms (REST, SOAP, Web Services). Perform SQL-based data modeling, database design, and data source configuration within Appian. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in interfaces, process models, and application performance. Apply Appian best practices for scalability, security, and maintainability across the application lifecycle. Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, QA, and cross-functional Agile/SAFe teams to deliver features on schedule. Support requirements gathering and analysis sessions, providing technical input during solution design discussions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior/mid-level Appian developers. Maintain thorough technical documentation across applications and process workflows. Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and deployment activities across dev/test/prod environments. Stay current with new Appian platform releases, features, and mobile development capabilities. Design and configure AI Agents within Appian process models, embedding them with proper context, guardrails, and auditability rather than deploying AI in isolation. Build intelligent document processing (IDP) capabilities into applications, including self-improving extraction models for complex/unstructured document formats. Leverage Appian Data Fabric to give AI agents and third-party tools secure, unified read/write access to enterprise data without data migration. Integrate Appian AI Agents with external systems and models via Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling secure interoperability across the AI ecosystem (e.g., Snowflake Cortex AI and similar platforms). Use AI-assisted, spec-driven development tools (e.g., Appian Composer) to extract specifications from legacy applications and accelerate build/modernization cycles. Apply Process HQ and process intelligence/mining capabilities to identify bottlenecks, quantify ROI, and target automation opportunities with AI and RPA. Ensure all AI actions embedded in workflows and interfaces are governed, controllable, and traceable to business outcomes — supporting compliance, auditability, and responsible AI use. Track and tune agent performance over time, applying agent memory/learning to improve decision-making
