As a Facility Operating Engineer Level 3, you will help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical building systems across a large corporate campus environment. In this experienced individual contributor role, you will perform advanced troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, system monitoring, incident response, and vendor oversight for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, Building Management System, and other critical infrastructure systems.

You will monitor facility operations, identify and resolve complex system issues, and support operational continuity, safety, compliance, and critical load management. You will also provide technical guidance and training to junior engineering staff while partnering with facility leadership, employees, and vendors to maintain a safe, well-controlled, and high-performing workplace environment.

In this role, you will

Install, maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and adjust mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and critical infrastructure systems. Operate and maintain the Building Management System, including responding to alerts, modifying set points, supporting administrator functions, rotating the chiller plant, completing database backups, and troubleshooting system issues. Monitor central plant, critical electrical, air-conditioning, and building infrastructure systems; determine the cause of malfunctions and take appropriate corrective action. Operate and support generators, automatic transfer switches, uninterruptible power supply systems, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, valves, motors, and water treatment systems. Interpret electrical one-line diagrams, mechanical-electrical-plumbing drawings, building schematics, technical procedures, and sequence-of-operations documentation. Support critical electrical load management, capacity planning, monitoring, and documentation. Use the computerized maintenance management system to manage work orders, projects, training, corrective maintenance, and preventive maintenance schedules. Develop, review, execute, and supervise emergency, maintenance, and standard operating procedures for critical system work. Prioritize and escalate incidents, provide ongoing communications, and participate in root-cause analyses and post-incident reviews. Coordinate and oversee vendor repair and project activity, including site orientation, work supervision, safety compliance, and progress reporting. Provide technical mentorship, direction, and training to junior engineering staff. Conduct routine inspections and building rounds, record readings, make adjustments, and analyze results. Support capital and operating expense budget planning. Complete required safety and compliance training and maintain accurate technical documentation.

Required qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Universal CFC certification. Minimum of 6 years of related facilities engineering or building operations experience, including at least 4 years supporting critical facilities operations. Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, critical power, generators, transfer switches, UPS systems, Building Automation Systems/Building Management Systems, and fire-life-safety systems. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and the ability to interpret complex one-line diagrams. Knowledge of OSHA standards, safe work practices, infrastructure risk management, reliability practices, and maintenance strategies. Ability to interpret mechanical-electrical-plumbing
