POSITION
SUMMARY MPC’s Ohio Refining Division in Canton, OH is currently accepting applications for an experienced Machinist. The schedule for this position will be a 4-10 schedule (Monday-Thursday) and will require some work on weekends and holidays. Upon employment, candidates are required to join the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union (USW). Starting pay rate is $54.89 with a contractual pay increase on February 1, 2027.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintaining equipment through preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance (vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.) and condition-based monitoring Ensuring required documentation of repairs, modifications, and training are completed in a timely and meticulous manner Repairing, rebuilding, or upgrading mechanical equipment per MPC specifications, standards, and drawings Machining and fabricating parts to specified tolerance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A High School Diploma or GED is required. A valid driver’s license is required. Five plus years of experience as a Mechanical Technician in an industrial setting with competence familiarity in repairing and maintaining rotating equipment with five years of machining experience OR a Machinist Trade School certification (with a minimum of 500 classroom hours) plus 5 years of experience in the repair of rotating equipment is required. Must have the ability to learn complex refinery related material. Successful candidates must be fit to perform the essential functions of the job and adhere to a strict Drug and Alcohol policy.
