Mental Health Technician Georgetown Opportunity: Part Time, Approximately 24 hours per week *Must attend a two week paid hospital orientation from 8:00am-4:30pm M-F* We are looking for Mental Health Techs that: Believe in providing exceptional service to every patient, every interaction, every time. Located in Lexington, Kentucky, The Ridge offers a healing environment to reassure patients’ sense of security and confidentiality. Dedicated to excellence, The Ridge is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, as a licensed, 110-bed hospital, providing psychiatric (mental health) and substance use disorder (drug and alcohol rehabilitation) services to children, adolescents and adults. Inpatient care is provided on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. Outpatient and partial hospitalization services are provided on a five-day per week basis, days and evenings. Care is provided according to an established code of ethical conduct and strict adherence to patient rights. Website: The Ridge Behavioral Health System | Lexington, KY Position Summary: The Mental Health Technician works under direct supervision to provide clerical and patient care activities in the treatment and care of patients with psychiatric and substance abuse conditions. Manages behavioral problems and facilitates education and activity groups. Actively participates as a member of the treatment team and performs other duties as assigned. Job Duties Include: Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator. Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities. Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.

Qualifications

Job Requirements Education High School Diploma or GED required. Some college course work preferred.

Experience

Experience may be accepted in lieu of college course work. Other Skills Must demonstrate basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts including the disease of addiction.
