Job Description
The Software Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining embedded and systems software for both new and existing ASIC-based products. This role involves troubleshooting and debugging hardware and software issues, developing low-level system software components, and collaborating closely with hardware teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal system performance. The position plays a key role in influencing hardware design decisions, driving innovation, and delivering high-quality software solutions for complex system architectures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead project teams and development partners responsible for software design, analysis, coding, testing, and system integration activities. Manage and strengthen relationships with internal teams and outsourced development partners involved in software systems development. Review and evaluate software designs and project deliverables to ensure compliance with engineering standards, development guidelines, and quality requirements. Provide actionable feedback to improve product quality, reliability, and risk mitigation. Serve as a technical expert and provide software systems leadership across cross-functional programs and engineering initiatives. Drive the adoption and integration of new technologies, methodologies, and best practices within the software systems organization. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing. Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools and practices to improve software development, debugging, testing, diagnostics, and automation while maintaining quality, security, and engineering standards.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline. Typically 5 to 8 years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or embedded systems development. Technical Knowledge and Skills Software Development and Embedded Systems Strong experience developing systems or embedded software using C and Rust ; experience with Go is advantageous. Experience designing, implementing, testing, and integrating software features for embedded or systems-level environments. Strong understanding of software systems architecture, including: Linux kernel drivers Embedded systems Multithreaded programming Experience integrating software across multiple hardware and platform environments. Hardware and ASIC Development Proven experience debugging hardware/software interaction issues. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret ASIC designs in detail. Experience working with hardware emulation and simulation environments. Testing and Quality Assurance Experience defining software testing methodologies and executing comprehensive validation plans. Proficiency with software debugging tools, testing frameworks, automation tools, and test scripting. Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues effectively.
