Join the growing MasTec Civil Team in Orlando, FL as we take on the next phase of a large-scale interstate improvement project! The Assistant Superintendent is a leader whose primary responsibility is to assist the Superintendent with the overall day-to-day supervision of field construction activities. This position will help direct subcontractors; scheduling and sequencing the day-to-day activities of work; assist in overseeing individual projects to assure compliance with the scope and quality as established by the contract documents; enforcement of site cleanliness, and proactively anticipate and assist in solving problems that could delay construction; Assistance and support to the Superintendent. Must have experience and knowledge in earthwork, underground utility work, subgrade/base, and paving and a strong background in structures (bridges/overpasses, MSE walls, retaining walls, culverts, etc). Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to field construction personnel. Active role in assuring productive work occurs in a safe and quality manner. Identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions. Maintain daily paperwork (ex. as-built drawings, timecards, test reports, e-mail correspondence, etc.). Communicate and collaborate with wide range of individuals, including field staff, management, suppliers/vendors, and subcontractors. Knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual. Permit document administration & control Complete review & understanding of subcontractor’s scope of work Coordinate safety meetings & overall project safety Control project access & traffic Tool/equipment inventory, coordination, & rental Coordinate, schedule, & maintain records of all project testing & certificates including concrete & soil testing Complete “2-week look ahead” & update schedules Conduct daily field reports Maintain “As Built” drawings for final submittal Project inspection coordinate & scheduling Final inspection & proper close-out documentation Quality control Site layout & control of benchmarks Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field OR minimum of 3-5 years’ work experience as a construction Assistant Superintendent/Foreman. Must have experience and knowledge in earthwork, underground utility work, subgrade/base, and paving and a strong background in structures (bridges/overpasses, MSE walls, retaining walls, culverts, etc).
