Job Summary
We’re looking for a hands ‑ on Python backend engineer to design, build, and optimize high ‑ performance microservices and APIs in a cloud ‑ native environment. The ideal candidate brings strong FastAPI and asynchronous Python skills, solid data/access patterns, and experience operating services on SAP BTP (Kyma/Cloud Foundry) with robust observability and performance practices.
Responsibilities
Build secure, performant RESTful APIs and services using FastAPI and async Python Develop background processing and data pipelines (Redis queues, multi ‑ processing/threading) Model and manage relational data with SQLAlchemy/Alembic; write efficient SQL on Postgres Ensure quality with automated unit tests (PyTest) and performance tests (Locust) Deploy and operate microservices on Kubernetes/SAP BTP (Kyma, Cloud Foundry) Implement observability (Prometheus, Grafana) and optimize performance end ‑ to ‑ end Containerize and ship services with Docker; manage dependencies via Poetry/venv/pip Collaborate on architecture reviews, code reviews, and CI/CD best practices (Git) Mandatory skill sets: 4–5 years of Python backend development with: FastAPI, asynchronous Python, RESTful API design SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Postgres, strong SQL fundamentals Redis (caching/queues), multiprocessing/multithreading Unit testing with PyTest; performance testing with Locust Pandas for data handling where applicable Microservice architecture (Kubernetes, NGINX Ingress Controller) Observability with Prometheus and Grafana Performance engineering in Python (profiling, optimization) Docker; Bash; Git Python dependency management (Poetry, venv, pip) Strong grounding in data structures and algorithms Preferred skill sets : Working knowledge of Golang or Node.js (optional) Experience with Redis Streams/RQ/Celery or similar API security (OAuth2/OIDC), rate limiting, zero ‑ trust patterns CI/CD and IaC (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Helm, Terraform) Cloud reliability patterns (circuit breakers, backoff,
