The Community Counselor creates a safe environment for patients, saves lives when necessary, provides hope, empowers patients, and teaches new tools for coping to patients. The Community Counselor provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living. One year related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness preferred.
