What You Will Do
BUSINESS UNIT : PRODUCT PIPELINES Kinder Morgan is the largest independent transporter of petroleum products in North America, transporting approximately 2.4 million barrels per day. The great majority of these products are transported through our Products Pipelines business, which moves gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, natural gas liquids and condensate through about 9,500 miles of pipelines. We also have approximately 65 liquids terminals in this business segment that store fuels and offer blending services for ethanol and biofuels.
POSITION
DESCRIPTION As part of the dynamic commercial team responsible for maximizing the value of our current infrastructure footprint, the candidate will be responsible for accumulating and evaluating data regarding the efficient use of our exiting truck terminals and renewable fuel opportunities in North America. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for managing a special project on the above topics that they will present to executives at the end of the internship. Over the course of the summer internship, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn the following: How the refined products industry within the United States functions and operates How refined products are supplied, transported and delivered to markets How large interstate pipelines operate and make money A successful intern should be able to do the following at the end of the summer Understand refined products suppliers, shippers, and markets Economically value services provided by our pipelines and terminals to the market This internship will provide exposure to the following: Financial modeling and analysis of deal/project economics The complete energy value chain from refinery tailgate to the end-use market The supply dynamic of the primary refining regions in the U.S. What You Need Minimum Requirements: Working toward a degree in Energy Management, Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or Engineering Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office – (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Candidate will have excellent modeling skills and be able to develop data analysis tools Candidate should be outgoing, energetic and self-motivated. Must be articulate, work well under pressure and consistently be able to meet deadlines Good verbal and written communication skills Ability and desire to work in a team environment and to be able to work independently Entering Junior or Senior year of college Working Conditions: Office environment. Travel may be required. Additional hours may be required to meet the needs of the region and its customers.
