Overview

This position is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily production capabilities of the Company's generating assets, ensuring adequate generating capacity and efficient utilization of the assets and resources necessary to deliver power to Wholesale Electric customers. Responsibilities •Plans, directs and controls operating activities to provide an accident-free workplace, and to ensure the safety of personnel working at the production facilities. Investigates accidents, reviews accident reports and takes corrective action as required. •Directs the daily operation of the generating assets to meet system demands, environmental requirements and business objectives through the coordination and scheduling of unit outages, load restrictions, personnel scheduling and utilization of resources supplied by other departments and vendors. •Conducts daily job briefings, safety tailgates and observations. •Ensures the safe and effective operation of equipment and ensures production interruptions are minimized. •Reviews daily operating information to ensure compliance with regulations and permit conditions. Ensures proper reporting procedures are followed when conditions warrant. •Ensures equipment is properly isolated mechanically and electrically to allow for maximum worker protection when maintenance is required. •Plans and schedules personnel to meet production requirements, assigns tasks, sets performance requirements and expectations, and monitors/measures individual performance to objectives. •Regularly reviews the status of unit conditions, equipment, and personnel performance to assure optimum efficiency and cost-effective operations are maintained. Directs corrective action as required. •Analyzes the root cause for equipment failures and unit shutdowns. Determines the appropriate practice and procedure to be taken to minimize recurrences. •Determines employee development needs and provides coaching, career counseling and development opportunities. Provide vision and serve as a role model for leadership throughout the organization. Demonstrates flexibility and commitment toward rotational assignments. •Directs the review and evaluation of operating practices and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency in the utilization of the generating assets. Ensures safe work practices and proper procedures are followed. •Develops and reviews employee performance evaluations. Takes an active role in managing and improving employee performance. •Ensures uniform application and consistency of Company policies and procedures for production personnel. •Performs other duties as assigned •Complies with all policies and standards Qualifications Required Qualifications High School or GED 5+ years experience in related utility operation, including production assignments Preferred Qualifications Possess and demonstrates abilities to build team, coach, facilitate, negotiate, motivate and energize employees and others.
