About this role
Workplace Type: Onsite
Newmont produces metals the world needs – safely, responsibly and with care for people, communities and the environment. With a 100+ year history, we continue to shape the future of mining through innovation and strong operational performance. By joining our inclusive, world-class team, you can help shape the future of mining and make a meaningful difference.
About Boddington
Boddington is a flagship Newmont gold and copper operation in Western Australia, located about 130 kilometres south-east of Perth and 16 kilometres from the rural town of Boddington. This large open-pit mine is among Australia’s biggest gold producers and in 2021 it became the world’s first gold mine to implement an Autonomous Haulage System (driverless haul trucks) – a pioneering step for safety and innovation. As a drive-in, drive-out site, our people can live in the south-west region and enjoy a great work-life balance while working with leading technology. Boddington’s team culture is built on a safety-first mindset and continuous improvement. We operate responsibly and take pride in our community partnerships – including working closely with local Traditional Owners – as we create sustainable value in the region.
Your Role – Reliability Engineer (Shovel Fleet)
Reporting within the Asset Management Mobile Maintenance team, you will be the reliability focal point for Boddington's critical production shovel fleet, comprised predominantly of Caterpillar equipment. This role is responsible for driving equipment reliability, availability and lifecycle performance across a fleet that plays a pivotal role in delivering safe and productive mining outcomes.
You will partner closely with maintenance, operations and technical teams to identify failure trends, eliminate repeat defects and optimise maintenance strategies that maximise equipment performance while reducing operating costs. Your work will directly influence fleet availability, operational efficiency and long-term asset value.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and analyse the reliability performance of the Caterpillar shovel fleet, identifying emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
• Lead defect elimination initiatives focused on recurring equipment failures and production losses.
• Analyse downtime events, SAP maintenance history and equipment performance data to identify root causes and sustainable corrective actions.
• Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and implement reliability improvement
