Job Details
We are seeking an experienced MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA) who specializes in ensuring the operational stability and reliability of our organization's databases. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both on-premises MSSQL and Azure SQL database administration. They will be responsible for implementing best practices, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting issues to maintain the overall health of our databases.
Responsibilities
Analyze and continuously improve the methods used to maintain the operational stability and reliability of both on-premises MSSQL and Azure SQL databases. Provide input into the development and revision of policies and procedures to guide in the use and acquisition of database software and resources designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment. Evaluate and recommend goals and objectives for the use and improvement of an efficient and cost-effective database system. Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and new features related to MSSQL and Azure SQL databases. Manage user access permissions and roles within the database environment. Design and implement security measures to protect sensitive data stored in databases. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize query performance and improve database efficiency. Coordinate and provide application and database operations triage support to troubleshoot and resolve functional and performance issues encountered in production, development, and test environments. Conduct regular health checks to assess the overall stability and performance of the databases. Monitor database performance to identify potential issues or bottlenecks proactively. Design, recommend, and implement procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures. Develop standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment. Be available for on-call-support as needed. Create automation for repeating database tasks.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Ability to oversee and/or supervise the work of others. Ability to troubleshoot issues related to connectivity/performance/security/authentication within the MSSQL/Azure SQL environment. Familiarity with high availability (HA) technologies like Always On Availability Groups or failover clustering. Solid understanding of database performance tuning techniques such as index optimization/query optimization/execution plan analysis. Proficient in T-SQL scripting for writing complex queries/stored procedures/views/triggers/functions. Experience working with Azure SQL databases including provisioning, deployment models, monitoring, scaling options, etc. Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2017/2019) architecture, features, tools, and utilities. Proven experience as an MS SQL Database Administrator with a focus on operational stability/reliability.
Preferred Skills
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Data Platform Administrator would be advantageous but not mandatory. Impeccable attention to detail Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills Experience with other RDBMS platforms like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and DB2 is a plus. Salary (annual gross): 66,026 - 94,324 EUR What
