Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Test Engineer. Add sentence or two about what the business does/manufactures. What you’ll do: Position Overview: In this role, the Test Technician is responsible for the execution of product testing, data acquisition and the reporting of component performance for Low Voltage Vehicle Controls products designed in Reynosa, MX. You will work with the internal product teams to understand testing requirements for various products. You will lead validation testing. In this function you will: • Work with a global cross-functional team to develop, launch new designs and provide sustaining support for switches, keypads, rotary encoder, and other commercial vehicle electrical products. • Participate in the launch of new products following the Eaton PROLaunch stage-gate process. • Conduct testing of product changes and new products in accordance with standards and customer requirements to confirm conformance. • Participate in Continuous Improvement programs and activities such as Cost Out, IDEAS program, VA/VE, Lean events among others. • Provides technical support to functional areas to solve issues, find root causes, and assemble action plans. • Define specifications, develop, procure, and validate functional test solutions for NPI and production environment according to specification, requirements and standards of Engineering, Quality, and customer. • Collaborate with other departments to solve issues related to software or hardware associated with test equipment • Procure test fixtures and improvement/upgrades (CI) to existing test processes and equipment • Collaborate with design engineering to set the number of samples, fixtures and test wire harnesses needed to complete the requested testing. • Create and execute design verification test plans (DVP&R & PVP&Rs) (measure voltages, currents, signals, rise/ fall times etc.). Including Environmental tests; and when it is needed make test requests for EMC/EMI, Vibration, shipping test, etc. • Create detailed test instructions based on test plans that will direct technicians how to carry out testing. • Participate in problem-solving activities, leveraging methods like 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Why. • times etc.). • Support product builds, product launches, and production quality investigation as needed. • Review and sign-off test setups prior to the start of testing that includes confirming proper calibration dates. • Organize, analyze, and summarize testing data to incorporate into test reports. • Direct lab technician activities for test setup, execution, and reporting. • Maintain a collaborative working relationship with various internal groups (systems, electrical and software engineering, manufacturing, supplier development and quality) and external groups (customers, suppliers, etc). • Proactively implement, promote, and maintain a safe working environment, through diligence in accident prevention, investigation, equipment maintenance and Zero Incident culture enforcement. • Support, communicate and reinforce the mission, values, and culture of the organization. • Apply appropriate Eaton Business System (EBS) processes and problem-solving tools.
