Test Technician

Vast is developing next-generation space stations and space infrastructure using an incremental, hardware-rich, and low-cost approach. Next, Haven-1 is expected to become the world’s first commercial space station when it launches in 2027, followed by additional Haven modules. Vast is looking for a Test Technician, reporting to the Manager, Hardware Development to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

The Hardware Development team takes pride in crafting cutting-edge mechanisms, fluid systems, and electronics to test hardware critical to the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) to support life onboard our artificial-gravity commercial space station . This is a crucial role, as it involves planning and executing testing of components that are absolutely critical to the safety of future astronauts and passengers.

This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

• First Shift: 6am - 2:30pm

• Second Shift: 2pm - 10:30pm

• Fabricate, clean, and activate ground support equipment and test articles in partnership with engineering, with a focus on pressurized ground systems

• Operate, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and modify manufacturing and testing equipment, including pressurized systems from vacuum to 20,000 psig, pneumatic and hydraulic, oxygen systems, refrigerant systems, and data and control systems

• Support development, acceptance, qualification, and investigative test campaigns via build and operation of ground support and flight equipment

• Maintain laboratory and workshop, including cleanliness, stocking of consumables, tool control, and supporting design and build infrastructure to support above activities

• Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions in support of above activities

• 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, test, operations, HVAC or other relevant role

• High School Diploma or equivalency certificate

• Experience in the aerospace, power and gas, military, or other high-reliability manufacturing industry

• Experience in the HVAC or industrial gas industry

• Experience with precision cleaning and assembly of precision-cleaned systems
