Overview
The Director Environmental Operations is the senior leadership position for environmental operations of Power Generation, Gas Operations, and Transmission/Distribution/Substation construction. This role leads a team of managers, supervisors, and subject matter experts that implement all environmental operations across a multi-state, multi-entity operation with integrated generation and gas assets, an expanding regulated and non-regulated capital portfolio, and a rapidly evolving environmental landscape. Responsibilities include managing environmental projects, including air, land, and water permitting for various pollution control projects and new facilities, on-going facility compliance support, preparation of environmental plans, studies, reports, sustainability activity, monitoring & testing, and problem resolution. This position interfaces with multiple internal stakeholders in Power Generation, Gas Operations, Generation Planning, Project Engineering, Legal, environmental agencies, local community officials, Transmission, Distribution, Substation, and others as required. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Environmental Compliance and will be located in Louisville, KY.
Responsibilities
Reviews the compliance provisions of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, its amendments and all related rules and regulations. Reviews environmental documents, technical reports to evaluate compliance risks with applicable environmental regulations. Manages the implementation of new or changed regulatory initiatives in all environmental media (air, land, water) areas. Manages the regulatory interface in the areas of environmental permitting. Coordinates permitting, relicensing activities, plan updates, and reporting in all environmental media areas. Leads the analysis and timely communicates these requirements to company management and the affected source explaining the overall impact to the company and associated facilities. Develop and provide oral and written reports to management concerning generation and gas operation environmental compliance and regulatory developments and issues. Responsible for the direction of all environmental media permitting from initial due diligence and development through construction and operations in Power Generation, Gas Operations, and Transmission/Distribution/Substation construction. Provides interface between various external environmental regulatory agencies’ staff and across the company. Responsible for identifying and completing various environmental generation and gas related environmental projects and tasks. Delegate work to subordinate staff or consultants.
