About this role

As the Director, Sovereign Cloud Delivery, Australia, you will be responsible for leading the deployment, orchestration, and scaling of Google Cloud's sovereign cloud initiatives for the Australian public sector. In this role, you will manage high-stakes, complex government programs. You will serve as the central orchestration point between local public sector stakeholders and Google's sales, delivery, engineering, security, and compliance teams. Google Public Sector brings the magic of Google to the mission of government and education with solutions purpose-built for enterprises. We focus on helping United States public sector institutions accelerate their digital transformations, and we continue to make significant investments and grow our team to meet the complex needs of local, state and federal government and educational institutions.

Lead the end-to-end strategic planning, execution, and delivery of highly complex sovereign cloud infrastructure and technology programs for the Australian government. Act as the strategic bridge between regional GTM (Go-to-Market) teams and Google's global engineering, product management, and technical infrastructure organizations to align priorities and accelerate deliveries. Establish robust delivery governance frameworks, risk mitigation strategies, and operational KPIs tailored to the regulatory expectations of public sector clients in Australia. Build trusted relationships and serve as the principal delivery executive with senior government leaders, agency CIOs/CDOs, and external strategic partners. Define and optimize service delivery standards, ensuring compliance, engineering reliability, and security practices meet sovereign requirements (including IRAP, ISM, and PSPF guidelines).

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, Business Administration, Public Policy, or equivalent practical experience. 15 years of experience leading technology programs, engineering delivery, or professional services within enterprise software, cloud, or hardware systems. 10 years of experience in the Australian Public Sector, managing government technology initiatives and navigating government security/regulatory frameworks. 8 years of experience managing, mentoring, and developing multi-disciplinary teams in a matrixed environment. Preferred qualifications: Deep knowledge of sovereign cloud architecture, national security compliance, and Australian federal government security standards (e.g., IRAP assessment, Information Security Manual (ISM) guidelines, and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)). Exceptional strategic mindset with the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into highly structured, actionable program roadmaps. Outstanding communication, persuasion, and people skills, with demonstrated capability to influence and build consensus among senior CXO-level government and corporate stakeholders. Proven track record of successful internal orchestration, driving strategic alignment and navigating organizational boundaries across global product, engineering, and sales business units.
