Responsibilities
Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning. Website: www.meridell.com Position Summary: The UPM is a front-line, supervisory opportunity with responsibility for oversight and direction of the direct patient care for our patient residents. The UPM will oversee the day-to-day operations of a 20-25 bed unit in a 24/7 residential treatment facility. This role will ensure appropriate staffing, employee engagement, retention, and the upkeep of the unit all while providing high-quality care to the children or adolescent patients in a therapeutic setting. The UPM will play a pivotal role in fostering a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment for both staff and patients. The UPM ensures the safety and well-being of the residents while supporting the therapeutic milieu. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Training: High School school diploma required. Bachelor's preferred. One to three (1-3) years of experience.
Experience
Demonstrated understanding of therapeutic interventions and behavioral health practices. Willingness to engage in physical holds/restraints, as necessary to ensure patient and staff safety. Excellent problem solving and decision making skills. Willingness to adhere to regulatory standards for ratio purposes on the unit. Able to resolve conflict between staff on assigned unit (s) and able to navigate conflict successfully with other leadership members. Skilled in time management, task prioritization and organization of duties. Skills in the development and provision of staff training curriculum, particularly related to behavioral management, milieu management and risk assessments and management. General knowledge of child and adolescent growth and development, group process and dynamics, system dynamics and crisis intervention. Licensure/Certification: Current driver license.
