About this role
Citi is looking for a Senior Credit Risk Analyst to join its credit team and take ownership of end-to-end credit analysis, financial underwriting, and credit memo preparation for corporate accounts and portfolios. In this role, you will assess complex credits, deliver portfolio-level insights, and work closely with Credit Officers and Relationship Managers to support sound, well-documented lending decisions. Your analysis will directly influence credit quality and portfolio performance across a broad range of client accounts.
Responsibilities
Conduct end-to-end credit analysis for corporate accounts, including cash flow calculation, debt service coverage, collateral coverage, and guarantor net worth assessment. Spread and analyze new, renewal, and interim financial statements and business or individual tax returns, with a focus on complex structures including Not-For-Profit entities. Prepare written credit memos that synthesize financial analysis, market context, industry positioning, and portfolio-level findings for use in underwriting decisions. Assess credit risk across simple to complex credit requests, delivering clear and well-supported preliminary analysis ahead of underwriting review. Advise Credit Officers and Relationship Managers on loan agreement terms and covenant interpretation, and monitor compliance throughout the credit lifecycle. Complete quality assurance reviews of application packages and credit analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness before submission for underwriting. Mentor and coach junior Credit Analysts, sharing technical knowledge to strengthen team capability and analytical standards. Required Qualifications & Skills 2 to 5 years of experience in a financial institution with direct involvement in credit analysis and the use of financial spreading software. In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), enabling accurate interpretation of complex financial statements and tax returns. Demonstrated ability to assess financial products, credit structures, and applicable financial regulations in a lending context. Ability to deliver clear, well-structured written analysis including credit memos covering financial, market, and industry dimensions. Effective communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to Credit Officers and Relationship Managers in a concise and credible manner. Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. Beneficial Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with SBA or EXIM loan structures and the specific analytical requirements associated with government-backed lending programs. Experience working with Not-For-Profit financial statements and an understanding of the accounting and compliance considerations specific to this sector. Prior experience in a quality assurance or review function within a credit or lending environment.
