About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and driven strategic leader to join our Citi Markets Communications team. The individual in this role will be responsible for developing and executing holistic, proactive and strategic communications plans for Citi's Markets division, spanning its Fixed Income franchise — including Spread Products, FX, Rates, and Commodities — and its Equities business. This role will ensure there is consistent, clear and concise messaging across these businesses, including executive communications, social media profile building and engagement, media interviews, and internal messaging to colleagues. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in capital markets or investment banking communications and thrive in a fast-paced environment that supports one of the world's leading global Markets franchises.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and execute a communications strategy, with an emphasis on streamlined, cohesive messaging across Fixed Income and Equities. Manage pipeline of content across Fixed Income and Equities for Citi internal channels. Drive a strategic media relations strategy for Citi Markets through proactive media engagement, executive communications, and issues/crisis management across both Fixed Income and Equities. Build and maintain relationships with top-tier financial media and serve as spokesperson for the businesses, liaising with press on business strategy and wins market events, strategic hires and announcements, and business milestones. Write and edit press releases, internal memos, and other communications materials including media statements, talking points, Q&A, awards submissions, social media posts, highlight decks and infographics relevant to Markets products, themes, and client activity. Work closely with colleagues across our global communications team as well as functional partners across the firm including Finance, Marketing, HR, Legal, Risk and Compliance, and the broader Markets leadership team.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field Understanding of capital markets products and instruments, including Fixed Income and Equities. At least 15 years of work experience in communications and/or media relations, with meaningful exposure to investment banking, global markets, or financial services. Ability to deliver quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic and complex environment under tight deadlines, including during periods of significant market volatility or business-critical announcements. Experience pitching financial, business and industry media outlets with a focus on markets, trading, and macroeconomic themes. Strong written and verbal communications skills, including speechwriting, persuasive narrative and editing, with strong attention to detail. Ability to synthesize complex financial and market concepts to create clear, compelling key messages for a range of stakeholders — from institutional clients to internal colleagues and regulators. A team player with the ability to manage projects strategically and globally with colleagues across regions, including EMEA, Asia Pacific, and North America. Strong relationship management skills, comfortable working with senior Markets business leaders including desk heads, business managers, and front-office executives;
