Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Role Purpose Performs technical duties supporting manufacturing processes, including data collection and analysis, equipment troubleshooting, testing, and process improvement. Works with engineers and technical teams to improve yields, reduce costs and downtime, and support equipment projects. Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot process and equipment issues. Support process improvement, cost reduction, and yield improvement projects. Collect and analyze manufacturing and customer data. Support equipment testing, installation, repairs, and upgrades. Partner with engineers on new processes, equipment, and projects. Promote safety and compliance with equipment and environmental standards. Provide project timelines, resources, and technical documentation. Lead or direct trades and contract personnel as needed.
Experience/Education – Required
2-year technical degree or equivalent experience. 2–5 years of manufacturing experience. Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to read blueprints/drawings. Computer literacy and technical curiosity. Strong process and product knowledge. Independent problem-solving and decision-making. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience/Education – Desired
A.S. or B.S. in a technical field. Project Management skills. Lean Fundamentals or Six Sigma certification. PEx tools experience. Strong organization and time management. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Work Hours and Experience
Nominal working hours are M – F, 8 AM – 5 PM Support off shift as needed
Travel Requirements
Less than 25% This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $70,834.00 - $97,397.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
