Summary The Butcher Block Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Butcher Block and full-service meat counter. This position ensures outstanding customer service, product quality, food safety compliance, merchandising execution, inventory management, and associate development. The Butcher Block Supervisor plays an important role in driving department sales, maintaining operational standards, and delivering an exceptional shopping experience.

Department Operations Oversee the daily operation of the Butcher Block and service meat counter. Ensure meat products are properly prepared, cut, packaged, labeled, and displayed according to company standards. Maintain high standards of freshness, quality, and presentation. Monitor service levels to ensure efficient and professional customer interactions. Support execution of department promotions, seasonal programs, and merchandising initiatives. Ensure adequate product availability to meet customer demand. Customer Service Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture. Assist customers with product selection, cooking recommendations, custom cuts, and special orders. Provide product knowledge to enhance customer confidence and satisfaction. Address customer concerns professionally and in a timely manner. Build customer loyalty through consistent service excellence. Leadership & Team Development Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to Butcher Block associates. Train, coach, and develop team members to meet operational and service expectations. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment. Monitor associate performance and provide constructive feedback. Support department staffing, scheduling, and productivity objectives. Merchandising & Inventory Management Ensure service cases and displays are fully stocked, clean, and visually appealing. Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs. Assist with receiving, handling, and storage of products. Help reduce shrink through proper rotation, inventory control, and product handling practices. Ensure pricing, labels, and promotional signage are accurate and properly displayed. Food Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and regulatory requirements. Monitor product temperatures, dating, labeling, and storage procedures. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas. Ensure proper operation and maintenance of knives, saws, grinders, slicers, and other department equipment. Support department readiness for inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews. Financial Performance Assist in achieving department sales, margin, labor, and shrink goals. Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Support initiatives that increase efficiency and profitability. Assist with inventory counts and operational reporting. Contribute to overall department success through strong execution and accountability.

Previous meat department, butcher, food service, retail, or supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of meat cutting, merchandising, inventory management, and food safety standards preferred. Strong leadership and customer service skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to train, coach, and motivate associates. Strong organizational and problem-solving
