Under the direction of the Manager, Admissions/Patient Access, this position is responsible to supervise the functions of the Admitting Department to include effective leadership, decision making, following departmental standards and policy guidelines in the absence of the department Manager. Serve as trainer for the departmental staff. Handle employee, patient and visitors' concerns, appropriately escalating issues as needed to upper management. Ensure that processes and policies are in place, employees are receiving effective communication and training information, and the department is run effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

Reading and numerical competency. At least one (1) year of college preferred to include business courses, accounting, healthcare related courses and/or office management A minimum of five (5) years of experience, which includes medical, management/supervisory and Admissions/registration department experience. Acute hospital experience strongly preferred Knowledgeable regarding third party payors including Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial insurance. Outstanding people skills, including telephone technique, personal appearance, organization skills, communicable skills (verbal and written), independent and self-motivated, flexible, analytic and arithmetic skills, negotiation skills, problem solving skills and computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications. Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure effective and efficient workflow.
