Position Overview: BWXT is looking for an Applications Development Intern for an on-site internship within our secured facility in Erwin, TN. Through hands-on experience with the development and maintenance of software applications, this team member will work alongside experienced developers in an agile environment, focusing on applying technology to solve business problems and create a better customer experience. Our ideal Intern must be able to work as a member of a team or alone with a defined set of tasks to complete. To be successful, the Intern must be able to communicate well, take direction and learn new skills quickly. The Intern should have a good understanding of SQL and relational database design as well as object-oriented design practices with core classes in these areas already completed or near completion. The internship is considered a year-round, part-time on-site position. Working hours are flexible and can be altered each semester to align with class schedules while the Intern continues attending school. This internship will accelerate professional development and prepare for a future career in .NET development. Location: On-site in Erwin, Tennessee. Your Day-to-Day as an Applications Development Intern:
Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using C#, .NET Framework, and .NET Core. Work under the direction of a project lead, typically an NFS Programmer/Analyst. Develop applications in alignment with established specifications and requirements. Ensure all applications are functional, secure, and compliant with company policies and standards. Participate in requirements gathering, test plan creation and execution, and documentation management. Coordinate user acceptance testing with end users and key stakeholders. Perform other essential duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Must have completed at least one year of school, including first year Computer Science curriculum. Have at least two years of school left and the desire to work part time throughout the semesters. Experience with Object-Oriented programming. Familiarity and experience with C#, .NET Core, .NET Framework, ASP.NET. Familiarity with SQL Server and
