As a Supplier Quality Engineer for Networking, you will join the team responsible for setting and managing the quality and reliability standards for our OEM Router and Optical Transport products. You will collaborate to drive supplier development and ongoing performance management to Google's technology and business needs. You are direct and have extensive involvement in the tools and techniques used to assess product quality and reliability. You have solid partner management skills and love to sift through data and use it to drive design or process improvements. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will manage the OEM supplier quality and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. You will collaborate with Commodity Managers and Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications and to make sure we maximize multi-sourcing for each product. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience. Own supplier quality and reliability performance for OEM networking hardware deployed across Google’s global network. Partner with Hardware Engineering and Network Operations to define and enforce quality and reliability requirements. Influence design, sourcing, and deployment decisions to improve fleet availability, reliability, and total cost of ownership. Lead supplier engagement during NPI phases to ensure design, process, and test readiness for scale. Drive reliability validation and risk assessment, including accelerated stress testing and lifetime modeling. Investigate and resolve field quality and reliability issues, performing deep root-cause analysis and leading corrective and preventive actions with suppliers. Analyze large-scale field data to identify trends, predict failures, and prevent systemic issues. Define and track supplier KPIs and hold suppliers accountable to continuous improvement and conduct supplier audits focused on process control, quality systems, and reliability practices.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience 5 years of experience in manufacturing in supplier quality, reliability, or hardware quality engineering for networking, server, or data center infrastructure.
