The Team

As part of the Packaging Optimization team, you will be interacting with industry leaders, attending cross-functional events, and volunteering for community service activities. You will gain valuable work experience in Global Aftersales Packaging Engineering.
What You'll Do
Support the complete packaging development process including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing Fix new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials, processes and provides creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to resolve physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging Evaluate and select packaging suppliers / vendors; periodically conduct vendor reviews Handle multiple projects simultaneously Works closely with global suppliers, engineering, product management, operations, and sourcing Participate in product introduction teams to deliver new products to market Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or related field Graduating between December 2027 and August 2028 Able to work full time, 40 hours per week What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity and innovate Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet goals in a fast-paced environment Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization Proficient in Excel for data analytics and BI software for data visualization Desire to learn new tools/methodologies Demonstrated leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities, or service organizations What you’ll get from us (Benefits): Paid US GM Holidays GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2027 Student Program GM Family First Vehicle Discount Program Result-based potential for growth within GM Intern events to network with company leaders and peers GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
