Location: Hazleton, PA How will you fit in the big picture?   The Hershey Company, Hazleton Plant, in Hazle Township, PA is a Union plant manufacturing products such as Cadbury Caramello Bars, Cadbury Mini Eggs, Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars, Hershey's Milk Chocolate with Almonds Bars, Hershey's Special Dark Bars, Hershey's Candy-Coated Eggs, and Kit Kat, in a high-speed complex environment. We’re seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Intern to support our maintenance team with day-to-day equipment upkeep, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities. This internship is a hands-on opportunity to learn industrial maintenance practices, safety procedures, and reliability-focused workflows. Accountabilities - Assist with preventive maintenance tasks (inspections, cleaning, and basic checks). - Support work orders: document observations, help gather parts/tools, and close out tasks. - Perform basic troubleshooting under supervision (e.g., mechanical issues, equipment resets, visual inspections). - Help with repairs and installations using standard procedures. - Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance areas and follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. - Support inventory tracking for tools and consumables. - Participate in safety walks and continuous improvement initiatives. - Learn and be responsible for the required task given to you. (Changeover, pan upkept) Minimum Requirements - Currently enrolled in a program such as Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical/Electronic Technology, or a related field. - Basic understanding of mechanical systems (motors, bearings, conveyors, pumps) and/or electrical fundamentals. - Willingness to learn safety procedures and follow site protocols. - Strong manual skills and ability to work safely in an industrial environment. - Clear communication and ability to follow instructions and documentation practice - Must be able to work weekends and be flexible to work any shift - Must be able to read, write, speak, and be trained in English. - Experience with hand tools, basic measurement (multimeters, gauges, micrometers where applicable). - Familiarity with CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) concepts. - Coursework or exposure to preventive maintenance and/or root-cause fundamentals. - Reliable attendance. - Familiarity with measuring tools and hand tools. Physical Demands:     - Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.  - Regularly required to work around operating equipment, stand, reach, stoop, crawl, bend, and climb stairs/steps.  - Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and forearms. - Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and working mechanical spaces.   Working Conditions:     - Work will be performed within a food manufacturing facility  - The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to include but not limited to safety toe shoes/boots, ear plugs, safety glasses/goggles, hard hats, hair nets, hooded hair restraints, and gloves - Wearing company issued uniforms is a requirement  - Successful completion of all required Learning Management System training - Must follow confined
