The Opportunity

This position works out of our Belgium location in the Abbott Medical Devices About Medical Devices O ur medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders. As part of Medical Devices, we are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Manager Clinical Contracts EMEA who will provide strategic and operational leadership for the EMEA Clinical Contracts and Payments function (CCA). The role leads a geographically dispersed team of Clinical Contract Associates responsible for Clinical Research Agreements, HCP Agreements, site budget negotiations, and payment activities supporting clinical research across EMEA. The position is accountable for achieving regional contracting objectives, ensuring timely study startup and execution, managing contractual and compliance risks, and driving continuous improvement of contracting processes, systems, and business intelligence capabilities. The role partners with Legal, Office of Ethics & Compliance (OEC), Data Privacy, HE&R, Study Management, Site Management, Clinical Quality, Safety, and Risk Management functions to support Abbott's clinical research portfolio across the region. What you'll work on- Develop and execute the EMEA Clinical Contracts strategy to support regional and global clinical business objectives. Lead workforce planning, resource allocation, succession planning, and talent development for the EMEA Clinical Contracts and Payments team. Establish regional performance objectives, KPIs, and contracting metrics, and implement corrective actions when performance targets are at risk. Provide leadership and oversight for complex contractual negotiations involving significant legal, regulatory, compliance, financial, or operational risk. Serve as the primary EMEA escalation point for significant contracting, budget, payment, compliance, and site startup challenges. Leads the development and expansion of EMEA contract and budget intelligence capabilities, including dashboards, metrics, reporting, forecasting, and business analytics that support strategic decision-making, resource planning, and operational performance management. Acts as the primary regional business partner for Legal, OEC, Data Privacy, HE&R, Clinical Quality, Study Management, Site Management, Safety, and Risk Management organizations to resolve complex contractual, regulatory, and compliance issues affecting clinical study execution across EMEA. Leads regional and global process improvement initiatives focused on contracting efficiency, standardization, scalability, compliance, and study startup performance. Drives harmonization of contracting processes, templates, and best practices across EMEA while ensuring compliance with local requirements. Provides recommendations to Clinical Operations leadership regarding organizational design, resource requirements, technology enhancements, and operational strategy. Drives Site Management and Operations partnering to achieve regional and national goals and objectives. Manages the EMEA CCA team. This may include but is not limited to: Performs regular headcount report reviews and takes appropriate actions in collaboration with Manager to ensure headcount numbers are in line with GCO needs Manages service
