About this role
Citi is looking for a Director of Wholesale Loan Transaction Management to lead and shape a high-performing operations team at the center of the firm's wholesale lending lifecycle. In this senior leadership role, you will own the end-to-end closing and servicing of complex syndicated and bilateral loan transactions — spanning corporate, commercial, real estate, structured lending, and trade — while driving operational excellence and regulatory integrity across the business. This is a rare opportunity to build and influence a critical function at one of the world's leading global banks.
Responsibilities
Lead the build-out and ongoing development of a wholesale loan closing team, establishing operating standards, training frameworks, and governance structures that support the full loan origination and lifecycle management process. Manage and actively maintain a deal closing pipeline, coordinating the end-to-end closing of complex loan transactions and lifecycle events — including data capture, documentation storage, quality control, and issue resolution. Define and implement operational metrics, risk and control reviews, and reporting frameworks to deliver transparent, end-to-end visibility for all stakeholders across closing and servicing. Partner with originating business lines, credit risk, legal, and operations teams to align closing processes with strategic goals and ensure all internal and external requirements are consistently met. Drive the design, testing, and rollout of technology solutions that improve closing efficiency, data quality, and operational scalability. Continuously identify and execute process improvements that reduce risk, increase efficiency, and strengthen controls across the loan lifecycle from front to back. Serve as the senior escalation point for loan remediation matters and system testing or migration programs, ensuring timely and sound resolution. Uphold rigorous standards of data integrity and regulatory compliance across all closing and servicing activity, holding the team accountable to internal policies and external requirements. Required qualifications & skills 15 or more years of relevant financial services experience, including 8 to 10 years in a people management capacity with demonstrated accountability for team performance and delivery. Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines with minimal oversight. Hands-on experience with Loan IQ and transaction capture tools within a wholesale lending environment. Advanced proficiency in Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to apply quantitative skills to operational and reporting challenges. Familiarity with Tableau or comparable data visualization tools to support performance tracking and reporting. Rigorous attention to detail combined with well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities. A Bachelor's or University degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Beneficial skills & qualifications Deep knowledge of wholesale loan products — including syndicated and bilateral structures — covering legal loan documentation, funding mechanics, deal structure, and funds flow management. A track record of establishing key operating standards and KPIs within a large global team supporting wholesale lending at a major financial institution, with demonstrated success in leading teams to meet or exceed those benchmarks. Experience engaging directly with clients under time-sensitive conditions to facilitate complex transactions and deliver solutions. Comprehensive understanding of corporate and regulatory policies governing lending operations, with the ability to translate policy requirements into practical operational controls. Strong influencing skills with the proven ability to steer senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-changing environment. What we offer
