Eaton’s Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Syracuse, NY facility. The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you’ll do: The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of customer-centric Engineered-to-Order (ETO) solutions for industrial and harsh-duty market applications. This role serves as the technical leader for complex projects, independently managing all engineering activities from concept development through manufacturing release. The position requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality, profitable solutions that meet customer requirements, industry standards, and business objectives. Reporting to the ETO Engineering Manager, the Senior Project Engineer leads multiple projects simultaneously while providing technical guidance, driving innovation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Solutions: Develop custom product solutions in response to customer, distributor, and field sales inquiries. Prepare technical proposals and coordinate bid activities to support profitable business growth. Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while meeting customer-driven timelines. Product Design: Lead product design, feasibility analysis, and technical risk assessments, considering cost, manufacturability, reliability, codes, and certifications. Recommend product improvements, new solutions, and design enhancements based on customer and market needs. Manufacturing Support: Support manufacturing through product launch and provide technical guidance for production-related issues. Create and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, schematics, bills of material, product specifications, and installation documentation. Collaborate with customers, sales, operations, sourcing, manufacturing, and suppliers to meet technical and schedule requirements. Qualifications: Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, interfacing with a manufacturing environment. Experience with product design, engineering documentation, and CAD tools Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ETO products and custom-engineered solutions. Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD, AutoCAD 2D, SAP ERP, Enovia Experience leading cross-functional technical projects and mentoring engineers. Experience with Industrial controls and electrical products/circuit protection; Knowledge of UL/NEMA/NEC Standards, particularly in Power Distribution & Controls (e.g. 50/50E, 508/508A, 1203, 67) Experience with 3rd party certification requirements, particularly for Industrial and Harsh & Hazardous Locations (e.g. UL/CSA/ATEX) All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
