As Senior Counsel within PNC's Corporate Governance organization, you will be based in Washington D.C. The Senior Counsel will be a key member of PNC’s Regulatory Affairs and Policy Legal Team, reporting to the Chief Counsel, Regulatory Affairs and Policy, and advising on the legal, regulatory, and policy issues shaping the future of banking services. This role sits at the intersection of banking regulations, payment innovations, stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and other digital assets, and regulatory policy. The successful candidate will provide bank regulatory advice and support regulatory advocacy within PNC and externally with regulators and policymakers. Serving as a key legal advisor on an array of statutes, regulations, and guidance governing PNC’s business and operations, including those at the bank, the holding company and their affiliates; The successful candidate should demonstrate the versatility and adaptability needed to effectively support multiple subject areas and provide coverage across the team as needed. Advising on and advocating for legal and policy considerations associated with stablecoins, tokenized deposits, real-time payments, and next-generation payment infrastructure. Providing thought leadership and support to PNC’s regulatory strategy and relationships in conjunction with other Legal Department and Regulatory/Government Affairs colleagues; Advising senior management on key regulatory issues and trends and on how to proactively manage regulatory issues and relationships; Providing specialized legal advice and counsel to attorneys supporting the lines of business, as well as management in those areas, on a wide array of regulatory issues in support of the company’s efforts to achieve its business goals in compliance with law and regulation. [moving up because this sounds impressive] Ensuring that PNC is in line with industry best practices for a top-tier bank, in its approach to understanding regulatory guidance; Analyzing legislation to identify issues for PNC and drafting legislative amendments to support ongoing advocacy of PNC Government Affairs; Leading the development of comment letters, advocacy materials, and policy positions on significant regulatory and legislative initiatives affecting banking, payments, and digital assets, along with other new regulations and guidelines that impact PNC. Day-to-day activities would include interacting with trade associations and peer financial institutions to advance PNC's policy priorities, drafting comment letters to regulators on new rulemakings, participating in meetings with regulators to explain PNC’s policy positions, and preparing executives to meet with staff of various government agencies. Participating in the preparation and oversight of regulatory filings related to new business initiatives and interpretive requests related to cutting-edge products and services; Working cooperatively with PNC Legal, Compliance and Audit staff, including support for PNC’s Regulatory Change program; PNC is an in-office company that fosters a supportive culture where employees can thrive and achieve balance.
