The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide. Role Purpose: Help design, develop, and implement our division digital strategy across multiple manufacturing plants. This position will lead or play a significant role delivering transformative cost reduction across the division while improving quality and process capability. An ideal candidate will be capable of learning and implementing the latest vision, digital and automation technology and concepts and work with the operations, supply chain, and finance organizations to deploy projects in manufacturing. Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement solutions for manufacturing which leverage latest digital technologies including data analytics and programming technologies, and work closely with manufacturing to define appropriate controls hardware platforms/systems for implementing process control solutions. Develop in-depth knowledge of existing processes to identify process control optimization opportunities and write proposals to initiate cross-functional projects. Work with experienced professionals in manufacturing and multi-disciplined team processes subject matter experts, and apply process data analysis skills to gain fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes. Utilize statistical analysis to design for process capability. Lead projects and work in a multi-disciplinary research, development, and engineering environment to identify opportunities for digital business transformation. Facilitate the transfer of new process control technologies and methodologies into manufacturing and provide training to manufacturing and engineering personnel. Document process control findings and newly implemented technologies in technical reports and functional specifications. Generate intellectual property through invention disclosures and patent applications.
Experiences/Education - Required
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Minimum 5 years manufacturing industry experience, with a track record of automation and/or optimization project implementation. Programming experience in Python, C#, HTML, and JavaScript Programming-related skills related to or involving web development, .NET, Flask, Microsoft IIS, Visual Studio, Git Analysis/Reporting experience with tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL, PowerBI
