The Senior Technician supports engineering and manufacturing teams by performing advanced technical tasks related to the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of aerospace components and systems. This role requires a high level of hands-on expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description

Expected Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions. Work with engineering to create test procedures, plans, and schedule. Read and accurately interpret engineering models, drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly prints, specifications, and testing requirements. Take initiative to clarify uncertainties and, in cooperation with engineering and other technical staff, resolve and/or correct issues as appropriate. Able to operate machines, hand tools, power tools, and refrigerant equipment in an aerospace AS9100 environment. Set up and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, electrical/ optical measuring instruments. Stage, assemble, install, and inspect aerospace mechanical, electrical, and fluid components by interpreting and utilizing engineering drawings, provided specifications, written assembly instructions, and test procedures. Support engineering by leading diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and fluid assemblies from the component level to full system level builds. Support engineering by leading various component level and flight vehicle check outs, including leak and system checks. Lead payload handling and integration operations that could include handling of aerospace and spacecraft assemblies. Operate material/hardware handling equipment including – but not limited to – hoists, lifts, tugs, and other ground support equipment as required. Coordinate and collaborate with crew members to accomplish set tasks within program deadlines. Perform assembly and checkouts on various ground support equipment related to all aerospace and spacecraft operations. Collaborate with manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, systems, quality, and design engineers to develop and document activities such as assembly work instructions, SOPs, acceptance test procedures, and qualification test procedures. Direct root cause analysis and implement corrective action. Set up new production areas, including tooling and equipment. Help manage routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, clean room, and safety guidelines. Consistently apply written, verbal, listening, and visual media and skills as appropriate to ensure accurate communication. Proactively identify issues and problems and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Consistently take ownership of and responsibility for personal and team performance to promote continuous improvement. Support and administer tests and testing requirements on high value assets/hardware. (May Include vibe, shock, thermal, TVAC, and all other MI-STD and NASA standard testing) Review and acknowledge internal document control, Coord Memos, SOP’s. Available to travel to testing sites, customer facilities, and events. Support project manager and system engineer in program meetings. Make presentations to program team and customers. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct reports. Level 2 technicians have the responsibility to assist in training less experienced technicians in their area of expertise, i.e., mechanical,
