Job Description – Senior, U.S. International Tax Compliance Position Summary The U.S. International Tax Senior will support the preparation, review, and delivery of U.S. international tax compliance and reporting services. The Senior will supervise a team of staff and will be responsible for assigning work, monitoring deadlines, reviewing returns and workpapers, and providing day-to-day guidance. The role will primarily focus on routine and moderately complex international tax compliance activities. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience preparing and reviewing U.S. international tax returns and supporting workpapers, along with the ability to manage multiple assignments and guide junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review U.S. international tax compliance calculations, workpapers, disclosures, and supporting documentation. Prepare and review U.S. international tax forms, including, as applicable: Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 8865, 1120-F, 8992, and 1118 Forms 1042 and 1042-S Form-1065, specifically Schedules K-2 and K-3 Assist with calculations related to: Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income (GILTI / NCTI), Subpart F income, foreign tax credits, Section 163(j) interest limitations, previously taxed earnings and profits, Earnings and profits and tax-basis pools Review cross-border transactions and related-party arrangements to identify applicable U.S. international tax reporting requirements. Review client-provided information, identify missing or incomplete data, and coordinate follow-up requests with engagement teams and clients. Maintain accurate, well-organized, and audit-ready workpapers and supporting documentation. Perform basic tax research, document conclusions, and escalate complex technical matters to managers or senior managers, as appropriate. Manage assigned compliance workstreams, monitor engagement progress, and communicate potential delays, risks, or technical issues to engagement leadership. Coordinate with federal tax and other related compliance teams to ensure consistency and timely completion of deliverables. Supervise and support junior team members by assigning work, reviewing deliverables, providing clear review comments, and offering day-to-day technical guidance and coaching.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, with substantial exposure to U.S. international tax compliance. Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 8865, 1120-F, 8992, and 1118. Working knowledge of key U.S. international tax concepts, including GILTI/ NCTI, Subpart F income, foreign tax credits, and earnings and profits. Prior experience supervising junior team members, assigning work, and performing first-level reviews of tax returns and workpapers. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience preparing and reviewing tax calculations, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engagement
