Job Summary
The Make Ready Designer will work on electric utility aerial Make Ready projects and be responsible for field surveying, field notes, sketches, design and construction drawings. Will work under the supervision of a senior designer and/or engineer. *** Remote work a possibility depending on work experience/ Must be to be local to the area*** Responsibilities Make Ready Design Collaborate with project managers, engineers, senior designers, and drafters to deliver the most cost effective and highest quality infrastructure solutions. Coordinate design of Make Ready projects for a utility, including preparation and review of bill of materials, clearance requests, permit applications, and equipment and labor units. Perform field inspections and evaluations of electrical systems for outside plant design. Produce detailed design documentation including 3rd party attached clearances, pole loading analysis, and overhead primary & secondary distribution movements. Contributes to and implements design modifications to improve quality of projects and process improvements. Apply client design standards to aerial pole lines, including Pole Replacements, primary and secondary line or equipment moves and Telcom moves. Provide cost causing analysis for existing violators. Perform post construction inspections.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent related experience with the design of electrical distribution systems including OTMR, JU design & over lashing. Must have FE experience with CREWS, SPANS, SAP systems and their specifications Experience with Katapult or other pole loading software. 2 years of experience with AutoCAD in Telcom and distribution design engineering environment. 2 years of experience in the Power Distribution or Telcom industry. Familiarity with electrical standards including National Electric Code (NEC) and National Electric Safety Code (NESC). Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook required. Regional travel required, as needed for the job. Must have a current valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for up to the past 5 years. Preferred Prior experience with civil
