The Mergers and Acquisitions team oversees AES's growth through mergers, divestitures, partnerships, restructurings, and acquisitions by assessing and executing potential transactions in conjunction with local business leaders in AES markets. In addition to driving traditional growth for AES, such transactions are also helping AES to deliver innovations that transform customer experience and operations for the electric sector as whole. The M&A team serves as a center of excellence within AES for the technical and professional skills required in such transactions.  The M&A Senior Associate will lead analysis of M&A transactions and manage such transactions as appropriate. The position is also responsible for other quantitative and qualitative analysis, at the direction of management. Responsibilities: • Lead several work streams for live transactions, including development of the financial model, creation of the confidential information memorandum (for divestitures/partnerships), coordination of the Q&A process, management of external consultants, and negotiation of parts of the transaction documentation • Design, build, and use financial and valuation models, including DCF and earnings models, to assess individual projects and AES as a whole • Analyze potential transactions and investments under the direction of transaction leaders, including strategic and financial impacts and risks • Manage an associate or other junior team member on internal projects, as requested by management • Coordinate the gathering, validation, synthesis and interpretation of data from confidential and public sources to assist in analysis • Develop a deep understanding of AES corporate and business structure, financials, valuation, credit ratings, strategy, capital costs, and tax position for use in transaction assessments • Attain a working understanding of AES markets, their drivers, and ways to capture and drive industry innovation through mergers and acquisitions • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to communicate findings and recommendations • Interact with other AES groups and AES businesses in a professional manner to collect information and documents, validate analyses, and facilitate internal and external due diligence • Coordinate interaction with external parties and advisors • Support internal processes for transaction assessment/approval, including Investment Committee memos and presentations
