About this opportunity Primarily responsible for providing, developing and maintaining a secure, reliable and performant Server & Storage infrastructure which host the European IT systems used by the organisation to facilitate their business processes. This role is also responsible for the ongoing maintenance, operation and continuous improvement of the European Division’s Data Centres, Backups and Disaster Recovery solutions and processes as well as server and system performance monitoring.
Main responsibilities
To ensure that investigation and response to server and performance related incidents are performed quickly, efficiently and diligently with a focus on continual service improvement. Develop efficient and thorough disaster recovery plans and perform regular testing. Ensure the division’s servers & data are backed up and meet all RTO and RPO objectives. Liaise with Business units and corporate functions to ensure that the server infrastructure addresses current and future business requirements. Lead the definition & delivery of a secure, reliable and performant server and data centre infrastructure strategy that meets the current and future needs of the organisation whilst effectively managing costs. Identify, determine feasibility and implement technologies and trends that could help improve Crown Europe’s server and data centre infrastructure and system performance monitoring solutions and standards. Co-ordinate the effective and efficient operational support of all third party and internally managed server infrastructure. Work with the IT teams in the other Crown divisions to ensure shared server platforms are managed appropriately, and to align strategic goals wherever possible. Meet governance and audit requirements and ensure compliance with all necessary server and performance monitoring related regulations, local legislations and licensing compliance. Ensure that all server and performance monitoring solutions comply with cyber security policies and frameworks so they remain secure and minimise the risk of cyber attacks. Document server and system performance monitoring solutions and standards and keep all related documentation up-to-date. Define and maintain all standards related to data centres, and perform regular checks/audits to ensure all rooms that host server infrastructure meet those standards. Perform regular system performance baselining and monitoring to ensure that the needs of the end users and IT systems are met and continuously improved. Develop skills and knowledge within the rest of the Data Centre and Performance team. Provide day to day management of the team members in the Data Centre and Performance team, ensuring they are happy, motivated and perform to their highest potential. Required education and qualifications A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology subject (or similar) Certified in ITIL Foundation PRINCE2 qualification Required knowledge and experience IS background with at least 5 years’ working with a Microsoft based IS Infrastructure Demonstrable leadership experience Detailed knowledge of Server technologies, solutions, procedures & processes Strong understanding of performance monitoring technologies Can demonstrate a history of developing & implementing new server platforms Understanding of IT within a manufacturing environment Co-ordinated activities across multiple geographies Required skills and competencies Strong internal and external stakeholder communication skills Planning and organisation skills Excellent time management Teamwork
