Job Description
Job Overview This role develops and delivers high-quality communications activity that strengthens AbbVie UK’s reputation, supports therapy area and enterprise priorities, and helps employees and external stakeholders understand AbbVie’s contribution to patients, the health system and the economy. The role requires a strong communications practitioner who can plan and execute across external communications, corporate channels, digital content and internal communications, working with External Affairs, commercial, medical affairs, market access, HR and agency partners to deliver integrated, insight-led communications with clear objectives, robust measurement and appropriate governance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic planning and brand leadership Develop communications plans for agreed therapy area, enterprise and corporate priorities, with clear objectives, audiences, messages, channels, dependencies and measures of success. Identify proactive storytelling opportunities that support AbbVie UK’s reputation and therapy area priorities, within appropriate governance and industry requirements. Excellence in Execution Deliver communications activity across internal and external channels, coordinating inputs from internal stakeholders, agency partners and review processes. Support issues preparedness and reactive communications by drafting materials, coordinating alignment and escalating risks early. Tactical execution and omnichannel delivery Write, edit and manage high-quality content for media materials, corporate website content, social media, intranet articles, leadership communications, employee updates and campaign assets. Support AbbVie UK digital and social media activity, including content development, channel planning, localisation of global materials and performance reporting. Performance, insight and innovation Set practical KPIs and use data, channel analytics and stakeholder feedback to assess impact and recommend improvements. Maintain awareness of healthcare, pharmaceutical, policy, media and digital trends, using this insight to inform communications planning. Stakeholder leadership and cross-functional collaboration Provide practical communications counsel to internal stakeholders, helping teams communicate with clarity, consistency and sound judgement. Work with External Affairs, commercial, medical affairs, market access, HR, legal, compliance and other functions to support integrated communications delivery. Governance and business delivery Partner with agency teams and vendors to deliver agreed outputs efficiently, on brief, within budget and to AbbVie quality standards. Ensure communications activity follows AbbVie processes for review, approval, documentation, budget management and vendor oversight.
Qualifications
Capabilities Clear, accurate and persuasive written communication, with strong attention to detail and editorial judgement. Good planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to agreed timelines. Stakeholder management, collaboration and constructive challenge across different levels of seniority and functional expertise. Sound judgement in a regulated environment, including the ability to recognise risk, seek appropriate input and escalate early.
