About The Program: The Caterpillar Lafayette Large Engine Center (LEC) is seeking students currently enrolled in a four-year university to work side by side with manufacturing and supply chain professionals at Caterpillar. Interns are empowered with assignments that provide them with relevant work experience and significant opportunities for learning. This internship program will start in May of 2027 working full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer and then will transition to a part-time (10 to 20 hours per week) assignment during the academic school year. The position may start prior to May 2027 with the agreement of candidate and hiring manager. This position has the opportunity to continue until graduation!

As an intern within the LEC internship program, you’ll join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar employees. You can focus on building technical abilities in roles including (but not limited to): Manufacturing Engineering Facilities Engineering Operations Quality Supply Chain Planning What You Have – Skills & Experiences: In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute your unique skills and experiences. Below are some of the most critical skills: Analytical skills, initiating ideas, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities Ability to work with others of diverse cultures, interpersonal styles, and abilities in a constructive and collaborative manner Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ability to quickly gain and effectively apply new skills & knowledge Strong written and verbal communication skills Participate in and build on our inclusive, constructive, and productive work environment Ensure all team member’s contributions are recognized and valued Internship Program Qualifications: Must be enrolled full-time at a 4-year university/college in one of the following degree programs: Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Systems Management, Business Administration/Management with a focus/minor in Supply Chain, Statistics, Math or Logistics, Finance, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, General Engineering, Industrial Distribution, Industrial Engineering/Technology, Logistics, Management Information Systems, Manufacturing Engineering/Technology, Manufacturing Systems, Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering/Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or Technical Systems Management Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.8/4.0 scale (no rounding) at current institution Must have completed 30 semester hours prior to start of internship .
