C-17 Flight Test Engineering Manager Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) organization is seeking a C-17 Flight Test Engineering Manager to join our team in Edwards Airforce Base (AFB) , CA.
Position
Responsibilities: Manage employees performing activities within multiple (2 or more) Engineering disciplines Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set operational goals Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers and lead process improvements Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes Manage, develop and motivate employees This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Edwards AFB, CA. Boeing First-Line Leader Assessment: To be considered for this position, you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Basic Qualifications
(Required Skills/Experience): This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active) Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership” 5+ years of experience working across functional groups and engineering disciplines on a Military aircraft program Experience synthesizing program/project/statement of work (SOW) requisition into actionable and measurable tasks Experience with systems engineering, configuration management (CM), and quality functions, processes and requirements Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 5+ years of experience in an engineering technical lead or management role 3+ years of experience in flight test engineering or related engineering disciplines supporting complex aerospace programs 3+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in test planning, execution, and data analysis across multiple functions 3+ years of C-17 engineering experience and an existing engineering technical network across engineering groups/skills 3+ years of experience working on C-17 design/repair (Operational, Depot, Repair/Overhaul, and/or Build/Manufacturing) for structural/avionic/electronic/electrical systems/subsystems 3+ years of experience applying program and project management principles (scheduling, risk management, cost control, and performance tracking) 1+ years of experience with direct involvement in mentoring, developing and evaluating, engineering personnel across various disciplines and/or functions 1+ years of experience developing and applying engineering processes, procedures and process-based metrics to drive efficiency Familiarity with DCMAI 8210.1C/D Skilled at presenting technical content to program leadership, Air Force customers, and integrated test teams with clarity and precision Ability to negotiate, influence, and build consensus with diverse stakeholders including government, program management, and engineering leadership Ability to understand and convey the big picture and the inter/Intra-relationships of skills and activities at the system and aircraft level, including the impact of changes in one area on another area Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across different audiences and varying levels
