In this role, you will provide technical leadership and people leadership for a team of Controls Systems Technicians while supporting the successful delivery of building automation and controls projects.
What you will do
As an HVAC Controls Systems Team Lead, you will guide daily field activities, support project execution, and help develop the capabilities of your team. You will work closely with customers, project managers, subcontractors, and other internal partners to ensure controls installation, commissioning, service, and project delivery activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a team of 3 to 6 Controls Systems Technicians in direct field work across installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, validation, and service activities. Assign, prioritize, and monitor work to support project schedules, service commitments, and operational objectives. Provide coaching, feedback, and development support to help technicians grow their technical and customer service skills. Support the diagnosis and resolution of complex issues involving controls hardware, software, networks, and system integration. Coordinate field execution with project managers, customers, subcontractors, and other trades to support successful delivery. Review project requirements and provide technical direction so systems are installed and operating in accordance with design intent. Participate in project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and field execution activities. Support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities and ongoing customer site requirements as needed. Maintain clear communication with customers regarding project status, system performance, and issue resolution. Complete project documentation, commissioning reports, service records, and other required deliverables accurately and on time. Promote a strong safety culture and support compliance with Johnson Controls and customer safety requirements.
