About this role
Standard Job Description Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more — we can innovate, invest, inspire and integrate our capabilities to transform the future. At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We’re creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision. We’re erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We’re advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we’re reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity. Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you. At the intersection of cutting-edge innovation and mission success, you will ensure the flawless execution of next-generation space systems. As part of our central specialty engineering team, your technical insight won't just analyze risks—it will actively shape the architecture of assets built to withstand the harshest environments in the universe. If you are an engineer looking to take individual ownership of complex space programs, collaborate across disciplines, and influence design decisions early in the product lifecycle, your next mission starts here! As a Reliability Engineer , you will support key activities for human centric and robotic space systems including: • Drive Mission Success: Support multiple space programs by providing reliability-centric recommendations and analysis within a highly collaborative specialty engineering team. • Shape System Architecture: Perform technical trade studies and evaluations of potential system architectures during early program development. • Model Complex Systems: Develop, coordinate, and execute reliability modeling, simulations, and predictions as part of the central reliability team. • Influence Hardware Design: Recommend advanced design variations, test methods (such as HALT/HASS), and statistical process control procedures to maximize product lifespan. • Evaluate Program Technicalities: Assess both internal and external designs to ensure overall compliance with mission requirements and government agency objectives. • Transform Raw Data: Compile and analyze performance reports, process control statistics, and flight/test variables affecting products. • Architect Predictive Risk Models: Develop mathematical and statistical models to isolate hardware units, batches, or software processes posing excessive failure risks. The information below reflects the standard job description for this position: Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data. Basic Qualifications Experience with space, missile, or related systems
