Condition Based Maintenance Specialist (Motor Analysis) | Plant Miller Job Summary The Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) Specialist is responsible for evaluating the health and reliability of plant equipment through predictive maintenance technologies, with a primary focus on Electric Motor Circuit Analysis (MCA). This position plays a key role in identifying developing equipment issues, providing actionable maintenance recommendations, and supporting the plant's reliability strategy. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing equipment condition data, documenting results in Maximo, communicating findings to plant personnel, and driving proactive maintenance decisions that improve equipment availability and reduce unplanned outages.

Job Responsibilities

Complete all requirements to obtain and maintain CBM Certification with two technologies in accordance with Southern Company Generation Standards. Serve as the plant's primary subject matter expert for Electric Motor Circuit Analysis (MCA), including testing, interpretation of results, trend analysis, and maintenance recommendations. Perform motor health assessments on low, medium, and high-voltage motors to identify electrical and mechanical defects before failure. Collect, analyze, trend, and communicate MCA data to support equipment reliability and maintenance planning activities. Periodically evaluate equipment performance using predictive maintenance technologies including: Electric Motor Circuit Analysis (primary focus) Infrared Thermography Vibration Analysis Oil Analysis Integrate condition monitoring data, operator rounds, preventive maintenance results, work order history, and equipment performance trends to diagnose maintenance needs and identify root causes. Utilize Maximo to document inspections, maintain equipment health records, generate recommendations, and track corrective actions. Support maintenance and operations teams by providing technical guidance regarding motor condition, repair strategies, replacement decisions, and reliability improvements. Collaborate with system owners, planners, engineers, maintenance personnel, and plant leadership to prioritize reliability initiatives and optimize equipment performance. Communicate equipment health, emerging risks, maintenance recommendations, and outage planning requirements to plant and corporate stakeholders. Research and stay current on industry best practices and advancements in motor testing, predictive maintenance technologies, and reliability-centered maintenance. Participate in CBM user groups, training programs, and peer exchanges to share knowledge and strengthen organizational expertise. Champion a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices are followed during all testing and inspection activities. Job Experience and Education Two-year technical degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two years of maintenance, reliability, operations, electrical maintenance, or similar experience in an industrial or power generation environment required. Experience with Electric Motor Circuit Analysis (MCA), motor testing, motor diagnostics, or motor reliability programs strongly preferred. Knowledge of power plant systems, maintenance practices, and operations. Experience interpreting electrical test data and condition monitoring results preferred. Proficiency with computer-based maintenance systems, including Maximo or similar CMMS platforms. Ability to work with a wide range of electrical testing, diagnostic, and predictive maintenance equipment. Experience with vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, or other CBM technologies is a plus. Relevant certifications in motor testing, predictive maintenance, vibration analysis, or thermography are desirable.
