The Enterprise AI Enablement team helps employees successfully adopt and scale the use of AI technologies across Xcel Energy. This intern will support AI adoption programs, employee training initiatives, communications, success story collection, and business value realization activities. The role works closely with business units, Copilot Champions, and AI leaders to help employees discover new ways to improve productivity and business processes using AI. Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Assist with AI adoption and employee enablement programs. Help develop training materials, guides, communications, and learning content. Support AI workshops, demonstrations, and employee engagement activities. Collect and document AI success stories and business value outcomes. Analyze usage and adoption data to identify trends and opportunities. Support ongoing improvements to AI resources, websites, and knowledge repositories. This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Current student, Junior or higher Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Business Administration Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Experience with Python, JavaScript, SQL, Power Platform, or similar technologies. Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or GitHub Copilot. Familiarity with automation, APIs, or low-code platforms. Interest in enterprise AI and digital transformation. Experience building applications, websites, or technical projects. Basic programming or scripting experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to learn new technologies quickly. Experience with Microsoft 365 tools.
