You will be representing the owner and/or tenants of the project and be responsible for troubleshooting and advising on engineering design, constructability, commissioning issues related to the project. You will be a key member of our team, and ensure the successful delivery of engineering systems for the data centre project. You’ll be comfortable working with diverse teams, a self-starter, motivated, have excellent communication and organization skills and deliver excellent results.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and implement MEP systems for newbuild data center projects, adhering to industry standards and best practices. Prepare mechanical engineering specifications, technical drawings, and construction documents, including HVAC system designs, piping layouts, and equipment selection. Evaluate and select mechanical equipment and components, ensuring compatibility with project requirements and optimal performance. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to assess the viability and efficiency of mechanical systems, proposing improvements and upgrades when necessary. Provide technical support during the construction phase, reviewing contractor submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits to ensure compliance with design specifications and mechanical codes. Perform HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, and airflow analysis to optimize system design and efficiency. Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall project plans. Participate in commissioning activities, performing system tests, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring proper functionality and performance. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to infrastructure fit-out mechanical systems, and apply this knowledge to improve design and implementation processes.
Requirements
Fluent in Japanese (JLPT N2) and English Applicants should have valid working status in Japan. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in designing and managing mechanical systems – HVAC, Fire Systems, for data centre newbuilds and infrastructure fit-out projects. In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes, standards, and practices for infrastructure fit-out projects. Proficiency in design and/or project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HVAC, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore) Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including cooling towers, chillers, air handling units,
