About this role
Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located on site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.
This is a site-based role at Tanami Operations in the Northern Territory, working in a challenging remote environment. You will interface daily with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HSE, and project stakeholders.
The role involves a FIFO schedule with 14/14 or 8/6 opportunities available. Approved departure locations for the point of hire are Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth, and Brisbane.

Who we’re looking!
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will safely maintain and repair fixed plant at the Tanami site, including crushers, conveyors, Koepe and double drum winders, pumps, paste plants, ventilation fans, air compressors, batching plants, and other key infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintaining and repairing fixed plant surface equipment, including crushers, conveyors, paste and batching plants, ventilation systems, dewatering infrastructure, Koepe friction winder, double drum winder, ensuring equipment reliability and operational continuity.
• Completing all work to a high standard, follow safety procedures, site policies, and Australian regulations and accurately recording job history and time supporting maintenance planning and reporting.
• Leading apprentices on the job, promoting safe work practices and skill development.
• Monitoring equipment performance, identifying issues early, and contributing to continuous improvement.
• Contributing positively to the team, operating safely and supporting production targets within budget.
